A Uganda Gorilla Trek and Jinja Adventure itinerary can include a city tour, a visit to the source of the Nile, a trek to see gorillas and activities on the Nile. Gorilla trekking and Jinja safari takes you on an adventure to trek the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable national park and then finalize your safari with a visit to Nile River in Jinja.
On arrival in Kampala, you will meet your driver who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will embark on the road drive heading to south western part of Uganda with the stop over at the equator for photo taking session. This is almost every traveler’s stop over on the way to any destination in western Uganda. Another stopover will be at Igongo cultural hotel for a lunch break and the final stop will be Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival in the park, you will check-in at your preferred accommodation facility for dinner and sleep over.
The following day arise early in the morning for breakfast, pack enough drinking water, snacks and wear a perfect gorilla trekking gear and meet up your safari driver for a transfer to the trailhead of the sector you intend to trek in. At the headquarters, you will be briefed about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts and what you should expect in the jungle. If you are not physically fit, ensure that you hire a porter and finally set off on your dream adventure as you search for the habituated mountain gorillas in the dense forest of Bwindi impenetrable national park. The entire gorilla trek can last about 5 hours or entire day depending on the movement of gorillas in regards to where the family was seen nesting the previous evening. After finding the gorilla family, you have one hour with gorillas then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
The following morning after having your breakfast, you will then transfer to back to Kampala. Check out of the lodge and embark on the long but adventurous journey with lots of stunning attraction along the way from Bwindi impenetrable national park back to Kampala with an enroute lunch in Mbarara city. Upon arrival in Kampala, you will check in at your booked hotel and then go for a brief city tour. You can visit some places such as markets like Owino and Nakasero market for shopping things like fruits, vegetables, jewelries, clothes, shoes among others, Bahai temple, Gaddafi Mosque, Kabaka’s lake and palace, Amin’s chamber, independence monument and many other places. Later return to your booked accommodation for dinner and sleepover.
Arise up early in the morning and have your breakfast. Check out of the lodge and meet your safari driver to start a journey from Kampala to Jinja with a stopover at Mabira National Forest Reserve where you will enjoy some optional activities such as Zip-lining, guided forest walks and many more then drive straight to Jinja. Upon arrival in Jinja, you will head to a hotel where you will check in for lunch and then be transferred to explore the source of River Nile. You will enjoy a boat cruise along the Nile River until you reach at the exact spot where Speke stood while declaring to the exact origin of Nile. There are other unique attractions to explore while on a boat cruise to the source of the Nile and all this makes an entire adventure more fascinating. After the cruise, return to your lodge, freshen up and head out for an evening Jinja city tour.
The following morning, arise up on a cup of coffee for breakfast and then meet your safari driver for a drive to the water falls where you will spend a half breath-taking white-water rafting through the waves up to grade 5. This is one of the most fascinating activities done in Jinja. After finishing with rafting, return to the lodge for a late lunch, freshen and finally check out to embark on your journey back to Kampala. In case you have an overnight in Kampala, you will be dropped off at your designated location or any hotel of your choice and in case you have a night flight, you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for departures back home or to the next destination and that will mark the end of your gorilla trek and Jinja adventure.
